The Department of Employment and Labour office situated at 424 9th ST, Marlboro, Sandton will temporarily close effective from 30 April 2026. The closure is necessary to facilitate essential maintenance and upgrades aimed at creating safer and improved environment for both staff and our valued clients. The construction phase is estimated to take about 12 months. The office premises will be inaccessible until renovation is completed.
Throughout the duration of temporary closure, our clients support services will remain active albeit with limited functionality. The Department is committed to ensuring uninterrupted service delivery, hence the exploration of the establishment of a visiting point in Alexandra is also at an advanced stage. Other government buildings have also been scouted with a view to move our officials on a temporary basis to continue with the provision of the much-needed services.
In order to continue providing excellent services to clients throughout the closure period, the Department encourages the use of online services for clients who are unable to travel to other nearby offices by visiting our website on www.labour.gov.za .
Telephonic assistance: Our team will be reachable on 082 908 1706 and 079 511 3178 from 07:30-16:00 Monday to Friday.
Furthermore, our officials will be redeployed to neighbouring offices such as Johannesburg, Randburg and Kempton Park Labour Centres to overcome the influx of clients from Sandton.

Randburg Labour Centre: Cnr Oak &Hill Street, Hillview Centre, Ground Floor Randburg
Kempton Park Labour Centre: Trust Bank Building, ground Floor, Cnr Voortrekker and Wolf Streets, Kempton Park
