The Office of the Registrar of Labour Relations confirms that a meeting was held on 6 July 2026 at 11:00 with representatives of the Federation of Unions of South Africa (FEDUSA) and the Public Servants Association (PSA) to discuss the recently published Notice of Intention to Cancel Registration.

During the meeting, the contents and implications of the notice were fully discussed by all parties. The Office wishes to reiterate that the PSA remains a registered trade union at this stage.

As alluded to previously, in accordance with section 106(2B) of the Labour Relations Act, as amended, the PSA has been afforded an opportunity to make written representations to the Registrar within 60 days of the publication of the notice. These representations will be duly considered by the Registrar's Office before any final determination is made.

Following receipt and assessment of the PSA's representations, the Registrar will decide whether the PSA should continue to be registered as a trade union in terms of the provisions of the Labour Relations Act.

The Office of the Registrar of Labour Relations remains committed to carrying out its statutory responsibilities in an independent, impartial and transparent manner. Any decision regarding the registration status of the PSA will be made strictly in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Labour Relations Act and based on all information submitted during the prescribed process.
