Re: a bid to improve skills development in the automotive sector
13 November 2023

Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) with Productivity SA and six other organisations for the implementation of a training programme called the Quality and Productivity Improvement (QPI) in the automotive sector, participating enterprises will deliver presentations to highlight the impact of the programme.
The presentation follows the signing of the memorandum with seven organisations such as the Japan International Co-operation(JICA), National Quality and Productivity Network (NQPN), Automotive Industry Development Centre, Gauteng(AIDC-GP) and Automotive Industry Development Centre, Eastern Cape(IDC-EC).
The Japanese orgnanisation, JICA, signed an agreement earlier this year to implement the productivity improvement programme (Kaizen project) for the lower-tier component suppliers in the automotive value chain including steel and metal sectors across South Africa. Kaizen is a hands-on and practical skill developed through a participatory, learning-by-doing, human-focused and process-oriented approach. Productivity SA, an entity of the Department of Employment and Labour, tasked with productivity improvement and job creation in the country invites members of the media to attend the event to be held at the Toyota Wessels Institute for Manufacturing Studies (TWIMS) as follows:
Date: 14 November 2023
Venue: Toyota Wessels Institute for Manufacturing Studies (TWIMS)
Time: 08:30 – 13:00
