The Minister of Labour, Mildred Oliphant will host a Domestic and Farmworkers' Imbizo (public participation programme) with a view to educate domestic and farmworkers about the National Minimum Wage; extension of social security benefits to workers such as the Unemployment Insurance Fund; the Compensation of Injuries and Disabilities Act; and to also engage them on improving their working conditions.
Under the theme: 'Blow the Whistle on Non-Compliance', the Imbizo will provide a platform for the Minister and the Department of Labour senior management team, to engage with the workers on concerns regarding employment of foreign nationals; the importance Occupational Health Safety; and the working conditions of the domestic and farming communities.
