Klerksdorp Labour Centre in the North West is offering limited services to clients following the issuing of the Prohibition and Contravention notices for the PC Pelser Building.

These notices came as a result of burst water pipes in the building that led to the structural integrity of the building being questioned and perceived to be risky for the officials and clients accessing the building.

According to the Chief Director: Provincial Operations, Sphetho Siyengo, this challenge has negatively affected services delivery at the Centre as the building is currently not accessible, making it difficult for the Department to render its full package of services.

“This unfortunate situation has led to disruption of our much needed services. However, we have put measures in place to ensure that service delivery provision continues by making use of our Mobile Offices (Busses) to service the clients. This option is inadequate as other services cannot be provided outside the offices," said Siyengo.

The Department is pleading with clients to be patient as other arrangements are being explored to ensure that all services will be provided while the building matter is being attended to.

“The Department together with all the affected stakeholder are doing everything possible to ensure that the matter is resolved speedily so that the situation can be brought to normality. We are pleading for patience as we work on the matter," said Mr Siyengo.

Clients who are able to visit other nearby Labour Centres in the Province such as Potchefstroom and Lichtenburg as well as others are encouraged to do so or make use of the Department's  online services by logging on to www.labour.gov.za where they will be able to use self-help platforms.
