Employment and Labour to host a Career Fair for Persons with Disabilities
14 March 2024

The Department of Employment and Labours' Public Employment Services in collaboration with Supported Employment Enterprises, will be hosting an Employer Breakfast session and Career Fair for Persons with Disabilities on 19 March in Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality.

In its daily operations, the Department has a responsibility to contribute towards employment creation by ensuring that people who register as work-seekers are best matched with opportunities available in the labour market.

The Career Fair aims to empower Persons with Disabilities by bringing them together with potential employers so that they can attain information on employment opportunities and self-employment initiatives. The Department wants to provide work-seekers with registration services on the employment database, offer counselling services, and assist with ways to find jobs through job search tools and assessments.

The session will provide a platform for the Department to share information with key stakeholders about the services offered by the Public Employment Services and allow space for employers and various organizations to present career opportunities to the attendees.

Preceding the career fair will be build-up activities which are intended to bring services closer to the people i.e. registration of unemployed work seekers, Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) claims and enquires/complaints, Compensation Fund (CF) claims and enquires/complaints and provision of assistance with Labour complaints related to National Minimum Wage and other basic conditions
