The Department of Employment and Labour will hold its annual Northern Cape Provincial Advocacy Campaign in Upington. This is in an effort to empower unemployed youth in particular to find work.
The Department's Public Employment Services (PES) will host the Provincial Advocacy Campaign, which will include a session with employers and another with unemployed work seekers.
PES plays an important role in job creation and retention, as well as assisting employers and job seekers to adjust to changing labour market conditions.
Furthermore, PES has an electronic database known as the Employment Services of South Africa (ESSA) that connects job seekers with available job opportunities for placement purposes.
The session will focus on the following:
The aim of the work seeker session and career exhibition is to provide youth with information about different avenues they can take to find work or advance their careers. It also aims to address educational deprivation among youth in Upington by motivating and preparing them with the work ethics required to return to and participate in the labour market.
