The Department of Employment and Labour's entity, the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) in Limpopo Province, together with the Department of Education and its compliance officers, will embark on a campaign to finalise the payment of former Teachers Assistants in the Capricorn and Mopani Districts.
The former Teachers Assistants were employed as part of the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI), which was implemented as part of the Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI) across all nine provinces to reduce youth unemployment in the country.
The campaign will be assisting Teachers Assistants who were part of the phase 4 project which came to end at the end of September 2023. An estimated 35 000 employees are affected across the province.
The Teachers Assistants will be assisted during an ongoing outreach programme to submit their applications for unemployment benefits at a venue nearest to them.
The outreach campaign kicks off today, 14 November 2023 at the Department of Education's premises. Former Teachers Assistants are encouraged to bring along their ID documents and banking details at the following venues:
Capricorn North District
Date: 14 – 17 November 2023
Venue: Ladanna Polokwane (Capricorn North District IT Hall)
Time: 08:00 – 16:00
Mopani East District
Date: 15 - 16 November 2023
Venue: Sebelaolo Primary school in the Sekgosese area
The Department will communicate details of the next visits to other districts as and when dates and venues are confirmed.
