The North West Provincial Office in Mmabatho (Provident House), as well as the Brits Labour Centre around Madibeng Local Municipality, has been temporarily closed for today, 22/06/2022 following security concerns as a result of marches and community protests around both the offices. According to the Acting Chief Director of Provincial Operations in the North West: Boikie Mampuru, the closure of these two offices add up to a delay in the processing of the much-needed services that these offices provide to the community. "Temporary closure of offices affects the provision of services and this becomes a serious setback given that we offer services that are in high demand such as Unemployment Insurance fund (UIF) claims. However, we would not be doing justice to anyone should we continue operating given the circumstances. Closure of these offices is necessary to protect both our clients and officials"; said Boikie Mampuru. The closure of the Brits office will also affect the planned service provision by the UIF bus which was scheduled to provide services around the Brits area. The situation is being monitored at both the offices and an update will be communicated should there be further developments.
