Minister Thulas Nxesi and Deputy Minister Boitumelo Moloi, of the Department of Employment and Labour will from Wednesday to Friday, 20-22 July 2022, lead a team of inspectors in the North West Province on a mega blitz inspections targeting the Road freight and Logistics; Iron and Steel; and Manufacturing sectors around Potchefstroom in the JB Marks Municipality.
During these blitz inspections a number of workplaces and trucks will be inspected and the Department will be looking for compliance with Labour Legislation such as Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act, Unemployment Insurance (UI) Act, Compensation Fund (CF) Act, the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA) and the National Minimum Wage Act.
These inspections are a joint operation with other Government Departments and stakeholders such as the Department of Home Affairs (DHA), South African Police Service (SAPS) and the National Bargaining Council for Road Freight and Logistics Industry (NBCRFLI) who will be assisting with enforcement of other disciplines in the above mentioned sectors.
