The Department of Employment and Labour Deputy Minister, Jomo Sibiya will conduct a joint blitz inspection in Gauteng tomorrow (13 June 2025). The Department has roped in Home Affairs, SAPS and Community Safety to ensure that they leave no stone unturned.
The inspection follows a complaints received by the Ministry of the Employment and Labour Ministry, for the Department's Inspection Enforcement Services (IES) Unit, to conduct inspections at Manufacturing companies to determine the level of compliance with various employment and labour laws of South Africa.
Following receipts of the complaint, IES in the Gauteng Province has crafted a project plan to conduct joint inspections and enforce the provisions of the following employment laws:
· Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA);
· National Minimum Wage Act (NMWA);
· Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA);
· Unemployment Insurance Act (UIA);
· Unemployment Insurance Contributions Act (UICA), and
· Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA).
