Employment and Labour Deputy Minister, Judith Nemadzinga-Tshabalala will on Friday conduct an oversight visit at Supported Employment Enterprises (SEE) Factories in Cape Town.

The visit will allow the Deputy Minister an opportunity to engage with the management teams of the two factories. The visit will also allow for engagements on interventions that will allow the factories to ramp up production lines.

Nemadzinga-Tshabalala recently paid an oversight visit to the Supported Employment Enterprises Factories in Silverton near Pretoria two weeks ago. This was followed a week ago by another visit to the Selby and Springfield factories in Johannesburg.

Supported Employment Enterprises is an entity of the Department of Employment and Labour established with a mandate of creating employment opportunities for persons with disabilities. The Department has 13 factories spread across various provinces.

The SEE factories among them employ people with disabilities who manufacture office furniture, metal safes, school furniture, home furniture, hospital linen, protective clothing, uniforms, embroidery, screen printing, upholstery, cupboards, and bookbinding. The factories are located in Bloemfontein, Cape Town, East London, Gqeberha, Kimberley, Pietermaritzburg, Polokwane, Potchefstroom and Pretoria (head office).

The factories employ more than 1 200 people. Among SEE clients of the factories include the Western Cape Government, the Department of Education, and the Department of Health.
