Employment and labour’s IES to conduct blitz inspection at Acornhoek and surrounding areas 21 – 25 June 2021

The Inspection and Enforcement Services Directorate, which is tasked with ensuring a labour market that is characterised by sound labour relations and respect for workers’ rights, will be conducting blitz inspections in Acornhoek, Mpumalanga Province.

The inspections will take place for the whole week beginning on Monday, 21 June until Friday, 25 June 2021. The inspections will take the integrated approach whereby all relevant fields within inspection and enforcement services will form part of the teams comprising Employment Standard Inspectors (BCEA) and Occupational Health and Safety Inspectors (OHSA).

The purpose of the Blitz during this period will be:

 

     

  • To examine how section 10(8) of the National Disaster Management Act 2002 (Act No. 57 of 2002), as well as Covid-19 directives issued by the Minister of Employment and Labour are applied in the workplaces
  •  

     

  • To advocate through inspections for Covid-19 compliance, OHSA and its regulations to relevant employers/employees
  •  

     

  • To examine how national labour standards are applied in the workplaces through inspection and enforcement of employment laws
  •
