As one of the Department of Employment and Labour's attempts to ensure labour laws compliance in the farming sector, the Compensation Fund will host farm employers and farm employees workshops on COIDA Compliance in Bloemfontein, Free State Province. The Compensation Fund held the first workshops on this sector for the 2024/2025 financial year in the Eastern Cape in October 2024.
The main purpose of these workshops is to educate farm employers and farm employees about their rights and responsibilities as per the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA) 10 of 2022 as amended.
Farm employees are entitled to compensation under COIDA in case they sustain injuries or contract diseases while on duty. The Compensation Fund is mandated to provide social security to injured-on-duty employees and those who contracted diseases at the workplace.
