Department of Employment and Labour to host Employer Seminar and Community Outreach Campaign in Northern Cape Province

The Department of Employment and Labour is inviting employers from all sectors in Northern Cape Province to an Employer Seminar to be held in Kuruman on Friday, 21 February 2025.

At the seminar, employers from various sectors will learn about the importance of complying with various labour laws and their regulations including the Unemployment Insurance Act, the National Minimum Wage Act (NMWA), the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act, and other labour laws.

Furthermore, employers will receive an update on the Unemployment Insurance Fund's (UIF) Follow-the-Money Project, as well as Risk and Anti-Fraud Management activities within the Department and its entities.

Technical experts from the UIF and other branches of the Department will be available on the day to assist employers with any challenges they might be experiencing.

The week ahead commences with a service delivery campaign where clients will be assisted with the registration of UIF claims and inquiries, r egistration of injury on duty and diseases claims , information on the Basic Conditions of Employment Act and National Minimum Wage Act, including assistance with placement of registered work seekers into work and learning opportunities in the following areas:

·          17 February 2025: Dibeng Community Hall (Kathu)    

·          18 February 2025: Laxey Community Hall

·          19 February 2025: Glenred Community Hall

·          20 February 2025: Mapiniki Community Hall

·          21 February 2025: Kuruman Labour Centre/ Kuruman Mall/Kuruman Taxi rank

·          22 February 2025: Kuruman Town Hall .
