Department of Employment and Labour takes government services directly to the Duncan Village community, Eastern Cape

The Department of Employment and Labour, in partnership with the Eastern Cape Human Rights & Missing Persons Unit, will host a Taking Services to the People Campaign & Career Fair on Friday, 20 March in Duncan Village, East London.

The event is aimed at bringing government services closer to the people by providing work seekers and the broader Duncan Village community with direct access to government services, career-related programmes, self-employment initiative and networking opportunities with potential employers.

Community members will have access to the following services: Unemployment Insurance Fund applications, claims assessment and resolving inquiries, Inspection and Enforcement Services, and processing of Occupational Injuries and Diseases claims.

Also on offer will be the Public Employment Services (PES), where job-seekers will be afforded, amongst other services, an opportunity to register their CVs on the Employment System of South Africa database (ESSA)

Venue: Duncan Village Post Office, East London

Time: 10H00

Members of the public who wish to be assisted with the above-mentioned services are encouraged to bring along the following documents:

  • ID Documents/Valid Passport
  • Completed UI-19 form & Salary Schedule
  • Proof of residence
  • Bank-stamped UI-2.8 form
  • Unemployed youth should bring along a detailed CV to be registered on the ESSA Database.
