The Department applauds the Hawks for their swift and decisive action in arresting an official from the Klerksdorp Labour Centre.
The arrest follows extensive investigation by the Hawks. The official is alleged to have connived in creating fictitious claims using the civilian's information and submitting such claims which amounted to R54,000 in 2020.
“This arrest marks a significant step in the fight against corruption and reinforces the principle that unethical conduct will not be tolerated," said Acting Director-General Jacky Molisane.
Molisane said the Department reiterates its zero-tolerance policy toward criminal and unethical behaviour and remains committed to full cooperation with law enforcement agencies. According to Molisane, transparency and accountability are at the core of the Department's operations, and “we will continue to work tirelessly to uphold these values," she said.
“We encourage members of the public to report any suspected misconduct. Together, we can strengthen trust in our institutions and ensure that justice and integrity prevail in public service," Acting Director-General, Jacky Molisane, concluded.
