Medical Service Providers in Gauteng Province attended a Networking Dinner Session hosted by the Department of Employment and Labour's Compensation Fund on the 22 September 2025 in Sandton, Johannesburg,
This session provided an opportunity for the Fund and Medical Service Providers to address challenges relating to Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA) and to explore possible solutions.
The Assistant Director for Medical Benefits Directorate, Ms. Maseroto Moema, opened the networking session with a presentation that covered Medical Claims, Medical Services and Medical Billing & Coding as well as the process for submitting medical invoices. She emphasised that for record-keeping purposes, the Fund prefers electronic and external application submissions.
Ms Matshidiso Rauleka, Deputy Director for Rehabilitation and Re-integration outlined the COID Amendment Act, Employment Equity Act: Code of Good Practice on Employment of Person with Disabilities as well as delivering greater social values to injured of employees.
The Medical Service Providers who attended the session had several questions that were posed to panel members. The questions ranged from the operation of the CompEasy system to re-opening of the claims and medical adjudications. In her response, Dr Vuyiswa Mabudusha, Director COID Services in Gauteng indicated that the province is working around the clock to resolve some of the challenges raised by the MSP's. She also urged them to escalate the matter to her office if they are not receiving any joy from her team.
The Compensation Fund remains committed to fostering collaboration with Medical Service Providers to improve service efficiency, accelerate claims processing, and ensure quality care for occupational injured employees across South Africa.
