A career exhibition hosted by Brits Labour Centre in partnership with Bapo Ba Mogale Administration in the North West attract scores of youth and work-seekers.

A career exhibition hosted by the Public Employment Services (PES) unit from Brits Labour Centre in partnership with Bapo Ba Mogale Administration in the North West has seen scores of youth and work-seekers arriving at Johanna Mokolobetsi Sports Ground in Bapong in search of information that would assist them in building their careers and future.

This career exhibition is part of the Department’s ongoing efforts to reduce unemployment by creating favourable platforms that allows the youth and work-seekers an opportunity to meet with potential employers and to expand their networks; and also gain valuable insight about different career opportunities that includes learnerships, Internships, apprenticeships, bursaries and entrepreneurship.

Speaking at the event, Ben Kungwane, a career councillor at Brits Labour Centre encouraged the youth to remain focused and also take opportunities such as this serious as it has the potential to help them build their careers, and also to use the services of the Department as they are available freely to them.

 "Our services to workseekers are free. We offer workseekers services that include registration on the ESSA database, match and placing work-seekers with available opportunities. Moreover, work-seekers are provided with career counselling services, which include psychometric assessment where necessary and job interview preparation" said Kungwane.

The work-seekers can also access the available opportunities such as work and learning opportunities; and self-employment initiatives by registering on the online portal found on the Department’s website, www.labour.gov.za. Work seekers can also visit any of the Department’s offices to be assisted with registration." concluded Kungwane.

Different institutions of higher learning such as Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges; Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETA), Attorneys and funders such as the Banks, were  invited to impart information that would assist youth and work seekers to broaden their horizons  and consider other opportunities.
