CEE meets media engagement

The Commission for Employment Equity (CEE), an advisory body on employment equity matters is inviting the media to an engagement session.

The engagement session will focus on:
·       The mandate of the Commission versus the role of the Department, in particular, the inspection and enforcement services branch in relation to the implementation and enforcement of the EE Act;
·       CEE future plans in terms of policy issues (EE Amendment Bill; ratification of the ILO Convention to deal with the ending of violence and harassment in the world of work; and
     ·       The new South African Code of Good Practice on the Elimination of Violence and Harassment in the world of work.

The Commission for Employment Equity is a statutory body established in terms of Section 28 of Employment Equity Act, No 55 of 1998 (EEA). The functions of the CEE is to advise the Minister
of Employment and Labour on Codes and Good practice and regulations made by the Minister, policy and any other matters concerning this Act. 

The CEE in addition, submits an annual report on the status of EE in South Africa to the Minister. 

CEE Chairperson, Tabea Kabinde will deliver a presentation on the issues of engagement. The engagement will culminate with a question and answer session. 

The engagement session with the media will be held at Pretoria’s Government Communication and Information Systems (GCIS), Ground Floor.
