The entity was established in 1943 as the Sheltered Employment Factories, for the sole purpose of creating employment for ex-serviceman and women who could not secure employment in the labour market due to their afflictions. SEE has 13 factories across the country located in KwaZulu-Natal -2, Western Cape – 2, Eastern Cape – 2, Gauteng – 3, Limpopo, North West, Free State, Northern Cape. Mpumalanga is the only Province that does not have a factory facility as yet.
