The Minister of Employment and Labour, Ms. Nomakhosazana Meth and the Acting Director-General, Mr. Viwe Mlenzana, will on Friday, 11 October 2024, visit the Pietermaritzburg Labour Centre to oversee and monitor the much-needed service delivery by the Department, as part of 'Taking Services to the People'.
Working closely with other sister Government Departments and partners, the Department of Employment and Labour will provide door-step service delivery at the Elijah Zuma Community Hall, Mphophomeni near Pietermaritzburg.
Taking services to the People also entails educating communities about available services of the Department.
A bouquet of services, including the processing of Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) applications, claims assessment, resolving UIF enquiries, processing of Occupational Injuries and Diseases claims, will be rendered. The Public Employment Services (PES) will afford work-seekers an opportunity to register their CVs on the Employment System of South Africa (ESSA) database, where they can be matched with prospective recruiters and receive employment counselling and more.
Minister Meth will have an opportunity to interact with the community to assess whether their needs are efficiently attended.
