Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) on a door-to-door campaign to meet with employers in ZF Mgcawu District
18-February-2019

The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) will be on the road once again to conduct a door-to-door campaign in the ZF Mgcawu District, targeting areas of Olifantshoek, Postmasburg, Lime Acres and Danielskuil from 18–21 February 2019. The main objective of this campaign is to visit employers and assess the level of compliance with the Unemployment Insurance Act (UIA) and Unemployment Insurance Contribution Act (UICA). The campaign is also meant to promote on-line declaration through U-Filing.

The team of UIF employees accompanied by Employer Audits inspectors will be knocking on doors in various workplaces in efforts to assist employers on all aspects of registration and compliance as well as to resolve UIF enquiries.

“These door-to-door campaigns are essential in ensuring that the Department of Labour keeps in touch with the employers and employees and assess the quality of services it renders, whilst it promotes compliance with the Unemployment Insurance Act," said Zolile Albanie (Chief Director: Provincial Operations) in Northern Cape.

This door-to-door campaign will also serve to mobilize and distribute flyers in preparation of the ex-mineworkers registration campaign in the areas of Olifantshoek, Postmasburg, Lime Acres and Danielskuil on 04–07 March 2019. As such the team will be issuing Bank Forms (U.I 2.8) to potential applicants (ex-mineworkers) who left their employment in the mining sector before 01 April 2002.

Employers and Employees are therefore urged to take full advantage of this service delivery intervention.
