Public warned to lookout for companies that illegally use logos of the Department of Employment and Labour

The Department of Employment and Labour has warned the public to be on the lookout for companies who fraudulently use the logos of the department and by so doing give the impression that they are either working with or partnered with it.

One such company that has since removed the logo of the department that it had displayed illegally is the so-called Labour Development Trust of South Africa. Based in central Johannesburg, the company when confronted said that they had used the logo for marketing purposes.

“It is unacceptable for private entities to use the logo of a government department without sanction or written agreement. We would like to appeal to such companies to stop marketing their services on the back of the department. Those that persist will be taken to court.

“Equally, we appeal to workers to be on the lookout for these and to confirm with the department if indeed these companies have been allowed to use the departmental logo or if at all they have a working relationship with us. Just because the company uses our logo does not mean that it has been sanctioned by us," said the Director General Thobile Lamati.

The said company also claimed that it was established through NEDLAC and claims links to other government departments and the International Labour Organisation.
