Middelburg labour centre operating with minimum staff due to community unrest
20 August

The Middelburg Labour Centre is currently operating with minimum staff due to the unrest in the area. The unrest by community members allegedly emanates from the petition delivered to the municipality demanding the reduction of tariff rates.

"The unfortunate situation has impacted negatively on our service delivery at the Middelburg Labour Centre as most of our staff reside in the affected areas and are unable to use public transport to commute to and from their residential area to work. Though the Department of Employment and Labour is concerned about the disruption of their much needed services, of paramount importance is the safety of its clients and staff members," said Ms Margaret Mazibuko, the Chief Director: Provincial Operations in Mpumalanga Province.

Clients are encouraged to use the Department’s online services found on www.labour.gov.za or visit other nearby offices.
