Why Setas Remain Vital In Skills Empowerment Campaign

The Sector Education and Training Authorities (Setas) remain a vital cog in the government’s job creation and poverty alleviation drive

Released by The Department of Labour on 21 January 2008

The Sector Education and Training Authorities (Setas) remain a vital cog in the government’s job creation and poverty alleviation drive. The on-the-job skills training that learners undergo at workplaces in various sectors is made possible by this Seta involvement.

Ever since the Setas collaborated with Further Education and Training Colleges (FET) as part of enhancing the objectives of the National Skills development Strategy (NSDS 2005-10) more opportunities have been brought right at the doorstep of young South Africans even in the remotest of areas where most FETs are closest.

The spin-offs of these efforts have included developing a culture of high quality learning; and linking education with skills training so as to provide young people with the skills needed by employers once they finish school.

The following is a list of Setas and contact information through which job and training seekers can get information.
