Hundreds of learners from rural Limpopo had a reason to hope for
improved learning this year, after Labour Minister Membathisi Mdladlana
donated 54 computers to at least three schools at Ga-Molepo today
(Frid). Learners at St Beads High, Maishe High, and St Benedict
School for the Disabled share one thing in common, abject
poverty. A lack of basic facilities - a library and
laboratory exacerbate their situation. Handing over the
computers at a function held at Maishe High, Minister Mdladlana said
the move was to alleviate the plight of the learners and encourage them
to enroll in Mathematics, Science and Technology education.
“We started the project in 2005 for the benefit of rural schools
where many children have never seen a computer. We will train the
teachers and assist them in devising programmes in the schools.” He
said.
Community Projects that received training from the National Skills
Fund for various skills in the area: Lebopo Agricultural Co-operative,
Molepo central Bakery project and Home Based care facility also
received a computer each.
