The Department of Labour in Kwazulu Natal has warned employers and
members of the public to be on the look-out for a conman pretending to
be a labour inspector and offering to help claimants in exchange for
large sums of money.
This follows a complaint by two employers from the Tongaat area who
claimed to have fallen prey together with other shop owners to the
bogus inspector. The bogus inspector who has allegedly been described
to be elderly with a beard and calls himself, Mr Ngcobo has been
especially threatening to female employers.
Any person in doubt or encountering suspicious activities is advised
to contact the nearest Labour Centre located at Verulam on 032 5335050
to verify the inspector. All inspectors of the department are expected
to produce an identification card with their photo and the departmental
logo.
