Basic Guide to Permits to Employ Children (Children in the Performing Arts)

Application

• members of the:
  • National Defence Force,
  • National Intelligence Agency, or
  • South African Secret Service;
• unpaid volunteers working for charity;
• workers aged 15 or older;
• children participating in non-profit activities; and
• employers who have not been granted permits.

The Basic Conditions of Employment Act applies in respect of any matter not covered by this sectoral determination.

Applying for Permits

• under 18 years;
• convicted of an offence against children within 5 years after a conviction.
