Klerksdorp Labour Centre in the North West offer limited services following its temporary closure due water shortage
27 January 2021

The Klerksdorp Labour Centre in the North West has been temporarily closed because of water shortage which has plagued the building since last week Thursday.

This challenge has since led to a prohibition notice being issued for the whole PC Pelser Building which houses the Department and other Government Departments that include, South African Police Services, Statistics South Africa, Rural Development and Land Reform, Office of the Public Protector and the National Prosecuting Authority.

According to the Chief Director: Provincial Operations, Mr Andile Makapela, this was done to protect the health of the clients and those of the officials especially in these trying times.

"It is unfortunate that we have to keep on closing our offices temporarily, especially during the period when our services are in high demand. We are doing everything possible to ensure that water supply is being restored,’’ said Makapela.

The challenge has been reported to the relevant authorities and is receiving the necessary attention as a matter of urgency.

Though a prohibition notice has been issued, arrangements have been made that limited service be offered to clients who would however still be visiting the office. This service will be limited only to enquiries and will be offered until 12 mid-day.

Clients are also encouraged to make use of the Departments’ online services by logging on to www.labour.gov.za or visit the other nearest office.
