Mr N.T.P Nhleko
Mr. Nkosinathi Phiwayinkosi Thamsanqa Nhleko, has been appointed as the new Director-General of the Department of Labour. Mr Nhleko who is 46 years old, holds a Diploma in Labour Law from the Graduate Institute of Management and Technology. He has over the years been involved with various institutions. He was the head of the Special Anti-Corruption Unit in the Department of Public Service and Administration. He also worked as a Deputy Municipal Manager for uMhlathuze Municipality from 1 November 2008 to 31 December 2010.
He worked for the Department of Correctional Services as a Regional Commissioner, in KwaZulu-Natal from 2006 to 2008. Mr Nhleko was a Member of Parliament from 1994 to 2005 where he actively worked in various capacities as Chairperson of the ad hoc Committee on funding of represented political parties, Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Public Service and Administration, Chairperson of the ANC Caucus, ANC Chief Whip, House Chairperson and as a member of the Judicial Services Commission.
He was the Branch Organiser for the Transport and General Workers Union in 1987. From 1987 to 1989 he worked as Branch Secretary for the Transport and General Workers Union. He later worked as General Secretary for the Transport and General Workers Union from 1989 to 1993.
