Released by Department of Labour on 20 June 2008

As from 1 July 2008 workers within the taxi industry sector can expect an increase in minimum wages.

Drivers and administration staff will receive a minimum wage of R1740.53 per month if they work 48 hours per week, while Rank Marshals will get a minimum wage of R1392.42.

Other workers in the industry who are not mentioned elsewhere will get hikes of R1218.38. These increases were based on the May CPIX which was 10.1% at the time plus 2%.

The boarding allowance will also be increased by CPIX and will therefore increase from R200 to R220 per night.
