A male casual worker employed by a private household owner in Hillary, Kwazulu Natal died instantly after a block wall collapsed on him crushing his body yesterday.

The deceased was not wearing any protective clothing at the time of death but was found to be dressed in normal long pants, a shirt and shoes. It is alleged that he was clearing soil that was washed into a trench from the recent heavy rains when a portion of the wall collapsed on him.

A prohibition notice was immediately served on the employer halting all excavation and demolition work until the investigation is finalised.
