Thongathi (Tongaat) Mall Commission of Inquiry, Presiding Officer Phumudzo wearing a white “makarapa” facing a labour inspector today (July 9) led a delegation to the site of the doomed Thongathi Mall. The delegation included developers of the Mall, their legal representatives, the media, eThekwini Municipal representatives, Department of Labour inspectors and engineers of the project.

Maphaha had previously cautioned all parties, that no one goes to the site of the tragedy without authorization of the Department of Labour following reports of people who have been seen on the site.

The Commission resumed another session today. The current session is expected to end on Friday before the Commission host what is expected to be the last session at the end of the month. This will be followed by presentation of heads of argument in August.
