by lloyd last modified 2011-07-26 13:41

25 July 2011

Three men accused of allegedly defrauding the Department of Labour’s Compensation Fund (CF) will appear in the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crime Court on July 26.

The three accused: Maxwell Ramaphosa, Samuel Mfeleng and Jurry Sehunoe are expected to plead. Their other three fellow accused had their charges withdrawn due to lack of evidence.

The men are out on a bail of R3000 each. The accused face 22 counts of fraud valued at more than R3,8-million and 28 counts of money laundering amounting to more than R860 000.

The Compensation Fund is a business entity of the Department of Labour. It is responsible to cover for compensation of workers due to occupational injuries or diseases sustained or contracted by employees during the course of their employment. The CF also covers for death resulting from such injuries or diseases, and related matters during occupation.
