27 August 2012

The Department of Labour’s (DoL) Employment Equity (EE) Advisory Unit national series of employment equity (EE) workshops on Revised Code of Good Practice on HIV/AIDS including tuberculosis (TB) and the World of Work and its Technical Assistance Guideline will proceed in the Northern Cape and Limpopo tomorrow (August 28).

The workshops are also intended to encourage designated employers on successful EE Reporting particularly On-Line Reporting.

The two workshops will be held at Protea Hotel Kimberley-Big Hole and Polokwane Royal respectively. Both start at 10am-13:00.

The workshops are part of a national road-show conducted throughout the country’s major centres. The presentation of the Revised Code of Good Practice on HIV/AIDS including tuberculosis and the World of Work and its Technical Assistance Guideline (TAG) follows last year’s Department of Labour consultations with stakeholders to elicit inputs from employers and various stakeholders with the assistance of the International Labour Orgranisation to develop a set of guidelines and policies on how to deal with the human immune virus (HIV) and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) including TB in the workplace.

This year’s road-shows are held under the theme: “Bridging the equity gap” and are aimed at employers or heads of companies, assigned senior managers, consultative forum members, human resources practitioners, trade unions, employees, Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) rating agencies and community constituencies.

Manual and Online reporting for EE Reporting starts on September 1, 2012.  Manual reporting closes on October 1, 2012 whilst, Online reporting concludes on January 15, 2013.

To date, roadshows have been held in Johannesburg and Pretoria (Gauteng Province), Cape Town (Western Cape), East London and Port Elizabeth (Eastern Cape).
