Department of Labour Domestic and Farmworker’s Imbizo Cancelled

The Domestic and Farmworkers Imbizo which was scheduled to be addressed by Department of Labour Minister, Mildred Oliphant on Saturday morning 4 May 2019 at Greenhills Stadium, Randfontein has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

The Imbizo (public participation programme) was intended to focus on Domestic and Farming sector and also educating them about National Minimum Wage, extension of social security benefits to workers such as the Unemployment Insurance Fund, the Compensation of Injuries and Diseases, and to also engage them on measures undertaken by Government to improve their working conditions.

The Department of Labour Inspectors will, however, continue with inspections in Krugersdorp, Carletonville, Roodepoort and Randfontein farms and domestic workplaces. The purpose of the inspections is to assess the level of compliance with employment laws.

The Department apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.
