19 September 2016

After three months of gruelling engagements with various sectors of the economy in South Africa, the Department of Labour’s and the Commission for Employment Equity (CEE) will on Thursday (22 September) host ultimate engagement with the Local Government Sector on the transforming of workplaces.

The last workshop will be held at The Aviator Hotel at corner Bosch Avenue and Kempton Road in Kempton Park, Gauteng Province. It will start at 09:00am.

The Department of Labour and CEE have been engaging with various sectors of the economy to hear direct from them on EE challenges, and find out their reasons on their failure to comply with EE legislation and devise solutions. The workshops started in June, and workshops have been held with the Retail & Motor Finance; Catering & Accommodation; Wholesale; Construction; Transport; Educational Institutions; Mining & Quarrying and Electricity, Gas & Water Supply Sectors, and the Wholesale Sector.

The aim of the sectoral engagements is to consult business leaders or their representatives (managers, human resource officers, EE officers among others) on employment equity issues.
