Gauteng SMMEs Offered Vital Growth Opportunity through Exporter Competitiveness Programme
4 April 2024

Gauteng's Small Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) are receiving vital support to boost their businesses through a transformative six-month Exporter Competitiveness Programme (ECP) initiative introduced by the government, aimed at propelling them forward.

SMMEs that have been operational for a minimum of two years within the manufacturing, agriculture, and agro-processing sectors, are urged to seize this chance for a six-month productivity enhancement and operational efficiency programme which is administered by Productivity SA, in collaboration with the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (GGDA).

Productivity SA is South African government entity of the Department of Employment and Labour established under Section 31 of the Employment Services Act, No. 4, with a mandate of promoting employment growth and productivity thereby contributing to South Africa’s socio-economic development and competitiveness.

The Exporter Competitiveness Programme offers a spectrum of productivity enhancement and operational efficiency tools, including capacity building and project identification, followed by linkage with potential international clients. SMMEs participating in the programme will benefit from the expertise of productivity consultants who will assess the SMMEs, identify challenges and implement tailored plans for business growth.

The core objective of the Exporter Competitiveness Programme is to grow and accelerate economic growth and job creation in Gauteng. The Exporter Competitiveness Programme is a free, tailored training programme specifically designed for both emerging and established exporters.

SMMEs are urged to act promptly and seize this opportunity for business expansion. Interested applicants must meet the eligibility criteria of operating for at least two years with a minimum of five employees. Additionally, businesses seeking assistance should ensure possession of necessary documentation, including company registration certificates, compliance certificates, tax clearance certificates, and financial statements.

Applications may be requested from Matthews Moatli at matthewsm@productivitysa.co.za and submitted it to the same contact (matthewsm@productivitysa.co.za) before 15 April 2024.

SMMEs are encouraged to not miss this chance to supercharge their business growth and make a lasting impact on Gauteng's economic landscape. They must apply now and embark on a journey towards greater prosperity and success.
